A Brief Introduction

Before diving into the rest of the content, please glance through this to get an idea of my credentials, experience, and goals.

My name is Jack Schomer, I have a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Ohio State University, and I operated the first SLA 3D printer ever installed on the International Space Station. I have experience with both mechanical design and coding, and I try to use industry accepted terms from both disciplines throughout my writing to convey consistent, understandable points.

My areas of expertise are:

  • Additive Manufacturing: Hundreds of parts using FDM, and several parts using SLA
  • Software: See other sections of the blog for examples of my code
  • Finite Element Analysis: I have run hundreds of simulations and built FEA libraries for generative design studies
  • Mechanical Testing: I have conducted hundreds of tensile tests, and built/implemented digital image correlation setups to support these test campaigns

My interests outside of those areas are:

  • Design
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cooking
  • Animals
  • Cosplay

Most of my posts will be focused on these fields rather than my domain specific work, since that is published in other channels.

Thank you for coming, and please enjoy your stay.
